I have seen the light, and now I must spread the word.
This is a rare appearance for me. It is only because I have been shaked to the core of my being that I post now, at almost 2:30 in the AM. I have just gotten back from Cafe Dekcuf after having seen the Jimmy Swift Band. These guys are, in a phrase, the electric Jesus. Some have claimed to hold this title before, but I know now that they never will. The Jimmy Swift Band has put on the best concert I have ever been to, and some of the best music I have ever heard. Check them on the web, but I place no amount of faith that the mp3s they have there will convert you. If ever there was a band that was meant to be heard live, this is it. They are what is known as a "jam band" you see, and in music-speak, that means that should they choose, their songs can last anywhere from 4 minutes to over an hour. You know those songs where you listen to them, and they just happen to strike a chord in you such that you think "this is quite possibly the best song I have heard in a long time"? Well the Jimmy Swift Band did that tonight with every song. Every bloody one. Even their covers (and they did stuff from KISS to Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran") And since they're a jam band, anytime they happened to hit a particularily nice sounding bit of a track, they sustained it until you were saturated with music. Percolated to the core of your being with a very finely ground blend of rock, dance and funk, if you will. Do yourself a favor, and go listen to them now. Then find out when they play near you and go see them as soon as humanly possible. You will thank me afterwards, trust me.
