Hurray for kitties!
I had catfish for the first time tonight. Very odd fish. I mean, they're
ugly as sin, but quite tasty. Did this one up as a good old fashioned fish-fry this time. Figured I'd give the whole breading-and-baking schtick a rest for one night. Anyways, on to the post.
The post(s).
Yes yes, har de har har. I'm a real laugh riot, I am. Seriously though,
monkeys are ninjas. If I were ever given a choice of whether I'd want to fight a bus or a monkey, I'd pick the bus, because I know (or at least, I'm reasonably sure) that busses don't fly out of trees, slap you on the ear, and then vanish into the foliage. If that tiger couldn't take down the monkey, I sure as hell don't stand a chance.
Are you unsatisfied with some of Disney's current ventures? I mean, they exhausted all the classic fairy tales to make into movies, and after making
sub-par sequels, they have now resorted to
self-promotion in the Nth degree. Personally, I am all for
"saving Disney" ever since I heard that Eisner decided to
axe the 2D animation department. If Roy thinks he can do better, that's great, but as far as I'm concerned, he can't do much worse. I mean, what's next?
Remaking the original Disney cast for CGI?
Well crap.
One of the big issues pretty much at the heart of this is that for some reason, people think that 2-dimensional art is somehow dying. Gabe over at PA remarked about how 2D gaming is all but completely dead nowadays, and since the only games I can think of offhand that have been released recently and that would fit in that category are Gunbound and the Guilty Gears, I'm tempted to agree. I don't understand why. In comparing 2D creations and 3D modelled ones, we might as well try doing features on the competition between TV and painting. It's just a different form of art, and quite frankly, one that I would like to see more of. Unfortunately, the ignorant masses have deemed that CGI is better looking than your traditional "flat" animation, and therefore they must be mutually exclusive. There can be only one. Animation World Magazine has a
pretty decent article further discussing this pointless debate-that-should-not-be. Also, Tagline has a
nice spot about the direction Disney should take on this one.
Eggs, sausage, spam, spam and eggs.
Ya think? Makes me wonder what super study they'll conduct next...
Also, if you don't read Mimi Smartypants, do consider checking out
today's post. I especially liked the bizarre pie metaphor she makes, ("MMMM! PIE! TASTES LIKE ME!") and when combined with the mental image of Cookie Monster suddenly talking about eating himself while dressed as a pie, caused me to almost snort salad. Don't laugh - it hurts.
